Like Neighbors Launches Merry Meals Program Benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC

Program aims to provide families staying at Ronald McDonald Houses in the Greater Washington, DC area with Thanksgiving dinner, holiday gift cards and more

GAITHERSBURG, MD – November 13, 2018 –  Like Neighbors, an online platform created to help people support one another in meaningful, tangible ways, is pleased to announce the launch of its first annual Merry Meals Program. The program, which begins today and runs through December 31, 2018, offers an easy, affordable way for participants nationwide to donate meal gift cards to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC.

“The Merry Meals Program provides a unique opportunity for people nationwide to brighten the holidays for families navigating some very serious medical challenges,” said Judy O’Connor, founder and CEO of Like Neighbors. “Gift cards donated will be used to provide a special Thanksgiving dinner for the families, will be given directly to families as holiday gifts, and will also be used to provide dinners to residents on an as-needed basis throughout the season. Thanks to the Merry Meals Program, these families won’t have to worry about finding the time, energy or money for a hot, delicious dinner while caring for a critically ill child.”

A special care campaign has been set up on the Like Neighbors platform (LikeNeighbors.com) with more information on how to purchase the gift cards, which start at just $25.

“We aim to make each Ronald McDonald House ‘home for the holidays’ for all our families, and meals are an important part of this effort,” said Dustin Davis, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC’s Director of Operations. “Lodging is covered during a child’s medical treatment, but we depend upon the kindness of donors and volunteers to provide meals. This time of year in particular, the gift of a donated meal lets our families know that others truly care and want to make their holidays a little happier.”
